Mary is co-author of The Irish Draught Horse. A must for anyone with horses in the heart and soul Irish Examiner.

Mary McGrath, and art consultant, worked in Harvard and Denver Universities and the Getty Museum. She set up the Irish Horse Museum in Kildare and was Honorary Secretary of the Irish Draught Horse Society (IHDS). She breeds and shows Irish draught horses and Kerry bog ponies. Join us for a relaxed lecture  with Mary.

Mary McGrath, an art consultant worked in Harvard and Denver Universities and the Getty Museum. She set up the Irish Horse Museum in Kildare and was Honorary Secretary of the Irish Draught Horse Society (IHDS). She breeds and shows Irish draught horses and Kerry bog ponies.

Mary McGrath trained originally as an Art Conservator at the Courtauld Institute, London University and at the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University. She has worked in England, France, Italy and the United States. In Ireland she has worked for the Irish Museum of Modern Art, The Hugh Lane Gallery and the National Gallery of Ireland.  For many years Mary lectured to Art History Students in Trinity College Dublin.

Mary is a founding member of SULT Artists, an exciting group of multidisciplinary Kildare artists. Since beginning to create her own art she has concentrated on her personal interest in biodiversity: the variety and variability of life on Earth, especially the richness of our native animals and birds which have survived despite intensive farming, habitat destruction and the demands of industry for greater financial rewards.

“Being in the presence of Mary in is simply charming so I very much look forward to her lecture” Margaret Edgill. You are welcome to come early and see the Irish Draught horses and foals that call Mount Briscoe home from 3pm. Please wear warm clothing and appropriate footwear. Thank you. All welcome.
