HedgeRow Fest is being held at Mount Briscoe Organic Farm, Daingean Co. Offaly on Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th September.
We bring to you a collective of artists, poets, authors, creatives, foragers, farmers, ecologists and specialists bringing to life our hedgerows visually, through the spoken word, music, poem or prose and visual art. This is a new boutique Hedge, Lit and Wellness festival with a focus on creativity, nature, hedgerows and slowing down.
It is being held in conjunction with National Hedgerow Week 2025. The theme of HedgeRow Fest 2025 is ‘Celebrating our hedges – a partnership with nature’. It is a collaboration between Margaret Edgill, Organic Farmer, Mount Briscoe and Daingean Development Association.
It seeks to showcase the ancient art of hedgelaying itself through master classes to demonstrate these skills and the positive impact they have on nature and climate action. It includes supporting events such as nature journaling, forest bathing, forest school, wild food foraging, mushroom foraging master class, art workshops, creative weaving, poetry workshop, hedgerow walks to discuss the life within and the associated prey/pollinators, essentially to bring to life visually, through the spoken word, music, poem or prose and visual art.
Headlining the Fest is acclaimed conservationist & practitioner Richard Negus, author of Words from the Hedge. Testament a poet, rapper, playwright and record breaking beatboxer will give a poetry workshop on Saturday. He will aslo read from his award-winning Hot Poets eco-poetry collective. The Delmaine String Quartet present The Company of Trees - A Celebration in Words and Music on Sunday. Using some of the great poetry, prose, music and song that trees have inspired over the centuries, the show explores their emotional, aesthetic, environmental and philosophical impact on our daily lives.
The line up of events is compelling and not to be missed. Festival Organiser, Margaret describes it as a “new boutique Hedge, Lit and Wellness festival a first for Offaly with a focus on creativity, nature, hedgerows and slowing down”.
